If you were to die today, for any reason, would you know 100% for sure you would be on your way to heaven? You can know for sure!
I John 5:13 says “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” It's nothing spooky or something difficult. God wants everyone to be in heaven with Him, so he clearly shows in the Bible what we must do. II Peter 3:9 says “ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
There are not any perfect people. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; The first step is admitting that in ourselves we are sinners. The word "sin" only means "to miss the mark," or simply put, not perfect.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The first part of the verse tells us that the wages, or price for sinning is death. This does not mean that we will be struck down by a bolt of lightning for taking a cookie out of the cookie jar, it refers to Revelation 20:14 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." This is what we deserve. Then the last part of Romans 6:23 tells us that even though we are not perfect, and don't deserve heaven, God made a way for you to get there. He sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the wages of our sin with His life, that was His gift to us because He loves us. Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Just like you don't give someone money for your birthday present, you cannot pay for or earn God's gift of heaven. He already paid the price, we only have to receive it. Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." All we need to do is pray and tell God that we receive His gift of love. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Reciting the words of this prayer will not save you, if you mean it in your heart, God will hear you. Once you receive Jesus' gift, He never takes it back, even if we deserve it.
